A historical landmark, Anaheim White House Restaurant is ‘home’ to many distinguished guests as well as many awards of excellence both domestically and internationally. Many of you know Allen and I recently came back from our vacation in Italy. Sitting in the dining room with beautiful murals all over the walls and ceiling brought back so many fond memories of our trip. You know you are in for a fine dining experience when a restaurant folds its napkins like a tuxedo!
Based on the book of the same name that was penned by Lindora President/CEO Cynthia Stamper Graff and released last year, the new low glycemic/fat/carb, gluten-free menu offers an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert.
There are 2 choices for appetizer; pasta or fish.
The Sautéed Tilapia Fish with Lemon Juice was delightful, tender and moist! The Pasta Calabrese (pasta made of rice and corn) with Seasonal Vegetables was flavorful and the pasta perfectly al dante. I actually had Pasta Calabrese for the first time in Florence, Italy a month ago and really liked it. The Mixed Green Salad was served in a special rice paper bowl, which gave this simple dish a special touch. The Petite Filet (4.5 oz Oven roasted petite filet mignon, Spinach, Carrots, Broccoli and Dijon Mustard Sauce) was perfection. No fancy wine reduction sauce and yet no shortage of flavor. Sometimes, simple cooking is the best.
The Chicken Breast (4 oz. Poached Chicken Breast, Spinach, Carrots, Broccoli and Dijon Mustard Sauce) was quite a surprise. By poaching it, the chicken breast was able to retain its flavor without drying up.
The Whitefish (4 oz. Baked whitefish, Carrots and Broccoli in a lightly spicy sauce of Japanese peppers) would please any fish lover. A milder and leaner fish that tastes good and diet-friendly.
Lastly dessert was Fresh Seasonal Berries (Strawberry, Raspberry and Blueberry). These fruits are delicious and packed with antioxidants but very low in calories.
I was thoroughly impressed with Anaheim White House in crafting such amazing 4-course meals while keeping total calories and carbs so low! Not one or two but a complete 4-course meal!
