It was about 2 months ago that I had an opportunity to try the Winter menu at RA Sushi in Tustin. We enjoyed everything so much that we couldn’t wait to come back and sample the Spring menu a couple of weeks ago. I love it that RA Sushi offers different special menu items in different seasons because these items use the products and ingredients readily abundant and locally sourced whenever possible. It not only brings freshness to the customers but also help support local vendors and communities.
This is one seriously happy place to be. The dining room was packed with happy hour patrons. Just so you know, like I’ve mentioned before, RA Sushi has one of the best Happy Hour menu in OC! Practically 1/2 of the menu (and they menu is BIG!) is on Happy Hour special.
There are 3 ‘Spring’ cocktails on the Seasonal Menu.
HOT TROPICS MARGARITA (A combination of sweet and spicy, Tanteo Tropical Tequila and Combier Liqueur d’Orange are shaken with mango purée, lime juice and agave nectar; served with a chili-salted rim)
PEAR & LEMON BLOSSOM (Absolut Pears, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, lemon sour and pear purée make for a refreshing seasonal pear-infused lemonade)
PEACH BASIL SOUR (A flavorful mixture of Bacardi Peach Red, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, fresh basil & lemon sour. Pucker up!)
Don’t they look refreshing? Wait until you sip them! I love them all! Did you know, if you are a light drinker, ask for virgin. They’ll be happy to make it for you.
The new fish on the menu is Red Seabream. It’s a popular fish prized for it’s rich flavor and served traditionally during special holiday and occasions.
RED SEABREAM CARPACCIO (Sliced Red Seabream and lemon topped with spicy yuzu dressing, organic micro greens, truffle salt and lemon zest) – Pure and simple dressing really allows the flavor of the fish to come through. If you prefer a little zest, eat it with the lemon slices.
LANGOSTINO STRAWBERRY SALAD (Langostino, strawberries, cucumber and avocado over arugula; tossed in citrus vinaigrette and served with kiwi wasabi sauce and truffle salt) – The langostino looks like shrimp but tastes firmer like lobster. It’s a beautiful dish that makes a great appetizer salad to share. RED SEABREAM NIGIRI (Red Seabream on rice, topped with spicy yuzu dressing and truffle salt). You really can’t bypass the traditional sushi nigiri.
And lastly we got roll! TUNA CALIFORNIA ROLL (The classic California Roll topped with a tuna mix of avocado, cucumber, bell pepper and cilantro; finished with togarashi, garlic chips and black pepper soy sauce). I don’t think I need to introduce to you how popular Tuna and California Roll are. So what do you get when you combine the two? A winning combination, of course!
I’ve mention in my previous post. The menu at RA Sushi is very extensive. From appetizers, to traditional sushi, nigiri, sashimi, maki sushi, hand rolls, specialty rolls, salads, entrees to desserts. The list goes on and on. Even special dieters and picky eaters will be able to find many things to enjoy.
RA Sushi has an impressive Happy Hour menu with more than 40 cocktails/beer/sake/wine ranging from $3.75 – $8.00 and 30 sushi/rolls from #3.49 – $8.99. It is such a bargain! No wonder the house is packed with smart diners! Happy hours are Monday – Friday 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday – Saturday 10:00 PM – Close and Sunday 8:00 PM – Close.
C’mon, let’s rock it at RA Sushi tonight!
