I had been to\u00a0Segerstrom Center for the Arts but it was night time and I must have been running late for the show as I didn’t have a chance to stop and look around. This time I came while the sun was still out and saw how beautiful the surrounding was, in particular where Leatherby’s Cafe Rouge is located inside the amazing\u00a0Ren\u00e9e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.<\/p>\n

The restaurant offers Broadway theme inspired menu that is perfect before attending a show, celebrating a special occasion or just because. I was blown away by the sample tasting menu created by Executive Chef Ross Pangilinan who was recognized\u00a0as one of Zagat\u2019s: 30 Under 30: LA\u2019s Hottest Up-and-Comers in 2012. Every single dish presented\u00a0was a culinary masterpiece. Chef Ross’ interpretation of the story was nothing short of spectacular!<\/p>\n

The massive glass facade gives the restaurant an open and airy elegance.\u00a0\"Leatherbys-7\"<\/p>\n

As soon as the guest walked in, we were greeted with sparkling champagne. A bread basket soon followed. Our 5-course tasting menu composed of dishes from 5 different Broadway themes shows throughout 2015 – 2016.<\/p>\n

Act I<\/strong> – The Phantom of Opera<\/strong>, August 5th – 16th 2015.<\/p>\n

\"Leatherbys-11\"<\/p>\n

The Phantom<\/strong> – Lightly cured cobia, ginger, daikon puree, asparagus, nori, calamansi. This is a clever use of ‘white’ to create a dreaming phantom illusion.<\/p>\n

Act II<\/strong> – The Lion King<\/strong>, October 6th – November 1st 2015.<\/p>\n

\"Leatherbys-14-2\"\"Leatherbys-13\"<\/p>\n

Circle of Life<\/strong> – Caramelized salmon deviled eggs, salmon caviar, chicken skin, pickled mustard seed, mustard frills. This is the most beautiful deviled eggs I’ve ever seen and tasted. I am definitely coming back for this during The Lion King show in October.<\/p>\n

Wine paring to go with each dish. White wine with Act I and II, red with Act III and IV.<\/p>\n

\"Collages7\"Act III<\/strong> – 42nd Street<\/strong>, November 10th – 22nd 2015.<\/p>\n

\"Leatherbys-16\"<\/p>\n

Philadelphia<\/strong> – “Cheese Steak”, oxtail, house made cheese “whiz”, caramelized onion and peppers, fries. I don’t think I will find anyone who doesn’t like this dish. The oxtail practically melts in your mouth!<\/p>\n

Act IV<\/strong> – Wicked<\/strong>, February 16 – March 6th 2016.<\/p>\n

\"Leatherbys-22\"<\/p>\n

March of the Witch Hunters<\/strong> – Veal ravioli, sweetbreads, bacon, cipollini onion, mushroom, tomato, “hunter” sauce. Do the mushroom look like the witch’s hat to you? Being that the Wicked has a ‘dark’ side, I thought this dish reflects it nicely with its heavier taste.<\/p>\n

The Final Act<\/strong> – Nutcracker<\/strong>, December 10th – 20th 2015.<\/p>\n

\"Leatherbys-25\"<\/p>\n

Christmas Eve<\/strong> – Brownie, oreo, peanut butter all in one, milk, sorbet. This is a grand finale with the best dessert combo ever! I don’t know if I can wait another 6 months to have it!<\/p>\n

In addition to the Broadway theme menus below, Leatherby’s Cafe Rouge also serves brunch, a la carte and bar menu. Currently the Motown menu is being served. The menu is on the website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
