\u00a0The restaurant was conceived based on a fictional story of 2 best friends, Who Song and Larry, who travelled the world together. \u00a0Along the way, they met great people, sampled amazing food and drinks and had more tales to tell than anyone cared to listen.<\/p>\n<p>Once they returned home to California, they looked for a place where they could relax and chill with friends and family to share their stories. \u00a0They couldn&#8217;t find it, so they decided to open one themselves. \u00a0This was how Who Song &amp; Larry&#8217;s Cal-Mex Cantina was born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(Photos by <a href=\"http:\/\/allentaylorphotography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Taylor Photography<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/WSL-129.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg37.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"575\" \/>Located in the Century Promenade near Honda Center in Orange, you might recall the location used to belong to Acapulco Restaurant. \u00a0The transformation is quite drastic and impressive with beautiful chandeliers throughout. \u00a0It is now a lot more artsy and sophisticated with warm rich walls and furnishings.<\/p>\n<p>Guests will have the options to be seated in the main dining room, the indoor\/outdoor bar\/lounge area or the outdoor patio with 2 beach palapas and a 10-foot fire pit. \u00a0No matter where you choose to dine, one thing is for sure &#8211; you will have a fun and delicious time!<\/p>\n<p>The menu encompasses most popular dishes from around the world crafted by Executive Chefs\u00a0<span style=\"color: #363636;\">Johannes Bernau and Loreto Alcala<\/span>. \u00a0Chef Johannes&#8217; Japanese, Dutch and Indonesian background played a big part in his creation of the motley menu. \u00a0Prior to joining Real Mex Restaurant, Chef Johannes worked along side several of the world&#8217;s renowned chefs such as Wolfgang Puck and Jose Andres.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg38.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"700\" \/>We started the evening with <strong>Dips and Chips<\/strong>. \u00a0It is served with 2 homemade salsas (a regular salsa and daily special salsa) and bean dip. \u00a0On the day of our visit, the daily special salsa was &#8216;Tropical Salsa&#8217;. \u00a0I really liked \u00a0these chips. \u00a0They were thinner and lighter. \u00a0 The bean dip had a nice BBQ smoke flavor and was a nice change to other restaurants&#8217;. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Collages67.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/>The next appetizer\u00a0<strong>Jalepe\u00f1o-Bacon Wrapped Shrimp <\/strong>(Grilled wild Mexican shrimp, bacon, roasted jalape\u00f1os, manchego cheese) was appetizer from heaven! \u00a0At first I thought it was just another bacon-wrapped shrimp. \u00a0But the roasted jalapenos and manchego cheese took it up 10 notches. \u00a0The BBQ Jam sauce was so good that I even asked to take some home! \u00a0You can not miss these when you come here. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg36.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/>There are so many great drinks here. \u00a0Bar Manager, Fabian, took really good care of us. \u00a0We got <strong>Sorta Skinny Margarita<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #221f1f;\">Herradura Blanco, X-Rated Vodka, Fresh Lime &amp; Orange Juice, Fresca, drop of Grenadine)<\/span> ,\u00a0 <strong>Mango<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Margarita<\/strong> (Dobel Diamond Tequila, Mango, Fresh Lime Juice, Handmade Sour\u2026 served with a Chile Pequin rim), <strong>The Traveler<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #221f1f;\">Don Julio Blanco, Grand Marnier, Prickly Pear,Handmade Sour) and <strong>Strawberry Moon Shaker<\/strong> (Strawberry Moonshine, White Lightnin&#8217; Moonshine,Strawberry and Lemonade). \u00a0We loved every one of the drinks. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg40.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"700\" \/>Next we tried the\u00a0<strong>Seared Tuna Salad<\/strong> (Sushi grade tuna, kale, fennel, crispy avocado, cashews,pepita-cilantro dressing). \u00a0Allen and I are very particular about seared tuna. \u00a0It&#8217;s so easy to over-sear but these were PERFECT, just a touch on the edge. \u00a0The tuna was very silky and tender. \u00a0I loved this dish so much that I would come back for it as an entree anytime.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg39.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"575\" \/>We were very curious about the Sushi so we ordered the <strong>Mexi-Crunch<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #221f1f;\">Crab, chicharron, chipotle sauce, avocado, cucumber) and <strong>Surf + Turf<\/strong> (Spicy tuna and carne asada). \u00a0Of the two, we enjoyed the Mexi-Crunch more. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Collages69.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"700\" \/>The\u00a0<strong>Charred Mussels<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #221f1f;\">Penn Cove mussels, onions, garlic, jalape\u00f1os,celery, carrots, wine, butter, grilled bread). \u00a0This dish is under &#8216;Social Eats&#8217; and is a great appetizer to share. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Collages70.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/>How many different tacos are on the menu? \u00a0There are 10 and we got 7 in a sampler! \u00a0There were\u00a0<strong>Braised Pork Belly<\/strong>, <strong>Carnitas<\/strong>, <strong>The El Dorado<\/strong>, <strong>Carne Asada<\/strong>, <strong>Beef Short Rib<\/strong>, <strong>Camaron Silvestre<\/strong> and <strong>Dirty Bird<\/strong>. \u00a0Aren&#8217;t they just gorgeous? \u00a0You can&#8217;t go wrong with any of them. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"list-group-item-heading\" style=\"color: #221f1f;\"><strong>BBQ Ribs<\/strong> (Tender Frenched pork ribs with a chipotle BBQ glaze served with fries). \u00a0You don&#8217;t have to worry about getting your fingers sticky. \u00a0They are Frenched for you so they come right off. \u00a0I adored the chipotle BBQ glaze. \u00a0Sweet but not over powering.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Collages71.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"list-group-item-heading\" style=\"color: #221f1f;\"><strong>Lobster Mac &amp; Cheese Enchiladas <\/strong>(Grown-up mac &amp; cheese made with muenster, manchego, gruyere, and Oaxaca in enchiladas, topped with buttered panko and cilantro). \u00a0Everyone loves Lobster Mac &amp; Cheese, WSL makes it into an Enchiladas. \u00a0I have mixed feelings about this, so I will let you be the judge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg42.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"list-group-item-heading\" style=\"color: #221f1f;\"><strong>Lemon &amp; Herb Chicken<\/strong> (Mary Pitman\u2019s organic free range chicken breast pan seared with lemon, herbs and seasonal vegetables). \u00a0This is a great entree, light and refreshing. \u00a0I thoroughly enjoyed it. \u00a0It got even better the next day when I took the left-over to work as lunch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Collages72.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"575\" \/>We were really stuffed by now but Chef Loreto sent out the EPIC Burger. \u00a0I can&#8217;t find this on their menu online but ask about it anyway because it truly was EPIC! \u00a0One of the best burger ever! \u00a0You must try it!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jpg43.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"700\" \/>The desserts were delightful! \u00a0<strong>Avocado Split<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #221f1f;\">Fresh Avocado, dulce de leche ice cream, pecan brittle, XO sauce) is a take on Banana Split. \u00a0I love avocado, so I am fan of this. \u00a0<strong>Apple Pie Tacos<\/strong> (Sauteed apples, cinnamon crumble, whipped cream) give American Apple Pie a run for its money. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Are you intrigued? \u00a0Have I spiked your curiosity? \u00a0Take a culinary tour around the world with Who Song &amp; Larry.
