Matt wanted to create a &#8216;West Coast Deli&#8217; where friends and family can come to relax and hang out but still enjoy great eats.<\/p>\n<p>After trying many of the sandwiches, I can vouch that these are not your ordinary sandwiches. \u00a0These are fine gourmet sandwiches, each with unique flavor and taste. \u00a0In the short 2 months since its grand opening, Sessions West Coast Deli has received rave reviews from its patrons. \u00a0Check it out on Yelp, a solid 5-star from every reviewer. \u00a0On the day of my visit, I met many people who visit the deli on a daily basis. \u00a0If I lived closer here, I would be here often, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(Photos by <a href=\"http:\/\/allentaylorphotography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Taylor Photography<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg17.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>Matt is a native of OC. \u00a0Growing up by the beach, his love of surfing and skating plays out in the decor of the restaurant. \u00a0Simple and clean design with an open kitchen is inviting to the guests. \u00a0&#8216;Raw and honest in sandwiches&#8217; is how Matt wants to present Sessions to the public. \u00a0I was especially drawn to the &#8216;green wall&#8217;. \u00a0Each piece of the wood was cut and hand glued by Matt. \u00a0Talk about dedication! \u00a0Oh, and the leopard print concrete is just awesome! \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages19.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>We started our tasting with <strong>Thai \u00a0Cobb Salad<\/strong> (roast chicken, bacon, mixed greens, cabbage, red onion, tomato, basil, jalapeno, cucumber, green onion, peanut dressing. \u00a0I love Thai food and salad, so this is a winning combo for me. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg18.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/><span style=\"color: #141823;\">Next we chose <strong>Summer Zephyr<\/strong> (fresh mozzarella, marinated tomato, basil aioli, baby arugula, pickled onion, balsamic reduction, toasted french roll). \u00a0This was much like a Caprese Sandwich. \u00a0I am very particular about Caprese and this is the best Caprese (salad or sandwich) I&#8217;ve ever had. \u00a0Even Allen, who normally refuses to eat &#8216;vegetarian&#8217; food was so impressed by it. \u00a0The quality of the ingredients and the house-made dressing are what set Sessions Sandwiches apart from the test. \u00a0<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Next was <strong>The &#8216;Strami<\/strong> (pastrami, swiss, pickled mustard seed, chow-chow, slaw, toasted ciabatta). \u00a0I don&#8217;t often order Pastrami sandwich. \u00a0To tell you the truth, I haven&#8217;t had many that were that good, so I was curious about SS&#8217; version. \u00a0One bite of it, I knew this was going to be my favorite. \u00a0The slightly crunchy slaw with the slightly sweet\/tart pickled mustard seed paired so well with the pastrami. \u00a0Kudos, also, to OC Baking Company&#8217;s ciabatta bread. \u00a0Unlike some ciabatta breads that tend be hard and chewy, these had great texture and yet soft to bite into. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>There are \u00a0few sides you can add to your meal like the<strong>\u00a0Latina Pasta Salad<\/strong>\u00a0(jalapeno, cilantro, onion, tomato, peanut dressing) and <strong>German Potato Salad <\/strong>(red onion, mustard, bacon, jalapeno,cilantro). \u00a0The German Potato Salad is made with mustard seeds instead of mayo, so it&#8217;s quite different but good. \u00a0Give it a try when you visit. \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>The<strong> Sloppy Barney<\/strong> (pulled pork, sweet &amp; sour bbq sauce, ickle, red onion, jalapeno jack, so cal slaw, ciabatta) is one of the most popular among guests and I can see why. \u00a0The pull pork is so tender and flavorful. \u00a0The purple cabbage is quick-marinated in butter milk. \u00a0I don&#8217;t like bbq sauce that is heavy (too sweet and too smokey) so I adore the sweet &amp; sour bbq sauce here because it&#8217;s so easy on your palate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baked Potato Chips <\/strong>(rosemary, sage, parmasean)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is house-made and not to be missed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>I am a huge fan of squaw bread so I had to try<strong>\u00a0Meddock Melee<\/strong> (roast turkey, jalapeno jack, guacamole, razor onion, tomato, cherry pepper, sprouts, adobo-buttermilk dressing, toasted squaw roll). \u00a0What can I say? \u00a0Everything here has won me over and I would have a hard time choosing which one to order.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages22.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>There are also hot dogs on the menu. \u00a0We got talked into trying \u00a0<strong>The Beast<\/strong> Hot Dog (Pastrami, pickled mustard seed, razor onion, cherry pepper). \u00a0How big is the dog? \u00a0It&#8217;s a whole FOOT!
