{"id":5927,"date":"2014-05-22T23:20:17","date_gmt":"2014-05-23T06:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/?p=5927"},"modified":"2017-05-23T11:39:28","modified_gmt":"2017-05-23T18:39:28","slug":"sealegs-wine-bar-huntington-beach-spring-menu-media-tasting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/?p=5927","title":{"rendered":"Sealegs Wine Bar @ Huntington Beach \u2013 Spring Menu Media Tasting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love Huntington Beach for many reasons; the sandy beach, the ocean waves (Hello, Surf City USA!) and the cool vibe. \u00a0But most of all, I love all the new restaurants that are making a splash. \u00a0I have adored Sealegs Wine Bar after I was first introduced to it last year. \u00a0Since it&#8217;s grand opening 2 years ago, Sealegs has become one of the fastest growing wine bars in Southern California. \u00a0In the 2 years since its grand opening, it has earned many accolades such as OC Weekly- Best Wine Bar 2013, Golden Food Award &#8211; Best California Cuisine 2013 and Gaylot &#8211; Top 10 Restaurants in OC.<\/p>\n<p>If you have wined and dined here, you wouldn&#8217;t be surprised at its success. \u00a0Lisa and Alicia combined their\u00a0passion for life, food and wine with their professional experiences in creating SeaLegs Wine Bar where, once &#8220;you step inside, you&#8217;ll leave all your worries at the door&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(Photos by <a href=\"http:\/\/allentaylorphotography.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Taylor Photography<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Collages132.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>Using fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are a big part of SeaLegs&#8217; culture. \u00a0As Spring\/Summer roll in, Chef Alexander Dale created some remarkable new menu items, some of which Allen and I got to sample recently. \u00a0(Please note that since we were there for media tasting, we asked that the serving size be reduced whenever possible, allowing us to sample more dishes.)\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grilled Turkey Meatballs (Grilled spiced turkey meatballs served with harissa and tzatziki). \u00a0These meatballs were light and packed with flavor. \u00a0The accompanying sauces were outstanding!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>Duck Confit Flatbread (Duck confit, goat cheese, mozzarella, parsnips, carrots, beets, kale, and micro bulls blood with balsamic reduction) was amazing! \u00a0The duck was so tender and flavorful, together with all the fresh ingredients, it was one of the best flatbread we&#8217;ve had. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Seared Albacore Salad (Seared Pacific albacore with pea shoots, bean\u00a0spouts, carrot ribbons, daikon ribbons, pickled<br \/>\nonion, micro cilantro, sesame ponzu). \u00a0I am normally not a fan of seared fish. \u00a0I either like it cooked or raw but Chef Alexander Dale cooked it perfectly that I really enjoyed it. \u00a0This was such a beautiful dish, light and refreshing, perfect for spring\/summer. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>The menu lists the dishes under &#8216;White&#8217; or &#8216;Red&#8217; to help you pair your food with wine. \u00a0Here we had a white wine and rose. \u00a0Allen likes drier wine where as I like it a little sweet.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Chicken Parmesan Sliders (Hand-breaded chicken with melted Parmesan and mozzarella, smothered in a San Marzano tomato sauce topped with micro basil on a brioche bun). \u00a0These were cheesy and delicious.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Mussels and Clams (P.E.I. mussels, littleneck clams, applewood smoked bacon, saut\u00e9ed garlic, shallots, leeks and herbs in a white wine broth served with toast points). \u00a0This dish was highly recommended by Alicia and it did not disappoint. \u00a0The mussels and clams were so plump and juicy and the broth was unbelievably delicious. \u00a0We soaked it up with the toast and savored every bite. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Quinoa Crab Fried Rice (Blue crab, quinoa, carrots, spring onion, bean sprouts,\u00a0celery stir fried and topped with a sunny-side-up egg). \u00a0What a clever dish! \u00a0The use of quinoa makes this a healthier and lighter alternative to traditional fried rice.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/SeaLegs2014-73.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Bleu Sliders (Angus beef with bleu cheese, bacon, fried shallots, and\u00a0red wine demi-glaze). \u00a0We asked for just 1 to sample as we were getting really full. \u00a0But one bite of it, we wished we had asked for more because it was amazing! \u00a0You know your stomach will make room for great food, right? \u00a0Definitely order this when you visit. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Collages16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>Cab-Braised Lamb Shank (Cabernet Sauvignon braised 16-oz. lamb shank with herb\u00a0roasted fingerling potatoes, mint pea pur\u00e9e and reduction\u00a0sauce). \u00a0Doesn&#8217;t it just look majestic? \u00a0Lamb lovers will not want to miss this. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/jpg16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>I know we look like pigs by now. \u00a0LOL!
