{"id":5421,"date":"2014-02-04T23:25:39","date_gmt":"2014-02-05T07:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/?p=5421"},"modified":"2017-05-23T11:17:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-23T18:17:00","slug":"baleen-kitchen-redondo-beach-valentines-day-menu-media-tasting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/?p=5421","title":{"rendered":"Baleen Kitchen @ Redondo Beach &#8211; Valentine&#8217;s Day Menu Media Tasting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I seldom venture outside of Orange County for media tasting. \u00a0But when Eating Around SoCal and Baleen Kitchen partnered up to host a media tasting for BK&#8217;s Valentine&#8217;s Day Menu, I couldn&#8217;t pass it up. \u00a0How could I resist a beautiful location right next to the marina?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelportofino.com\/redondo-beach-baleen-restaurant.aspx#bn\" target=\"_blank\">Baleen Kitchen is part of The Portofino Hotel &amp; Marina<\/a> in Redondo Beach. \u00a0It was voted\u00a0Top 10 Best Restaurants for Waterside Dining in LA by The ZAGAT. \u00a0Read on and you will understand why.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Collages182.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>The restaurant recently gone through a renovation. \u00a0The nautical theme dining area next to the Chef&#8217;s kitchen and the outdoor seating are perfect for a more relaxing and casual gathering with friends. \u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/jpg95.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>Once we checked in with our hostess, Annelise, we sat next to the Baleen Lounge while waiting for other media guests to arrive. \u00a0The lounge offers\u00a0&#8220;small-plates fare with bold flavors and a little Latin spice, accompanied by a serious mixology program of \u2018Classic Reinvented Cocktails\u2019.&#8221; \u00a0We got to sample (pictured above from left to right) Anti-Oxident Mojito (appleton rum, pommegranate, muddled raspberry &amp; blackberry, mint), Proper Old Fashioned (bulleit bourbon, angoustoura bitters), and The Noble Sunset (ketel one oranje, campari, agave syrup, laurent perrier champagne). \u00a0Mer Soleil\u00a0Silver Unoaked Chardonnay\u00a02012 was paired with our meal. \u00a0The\u00a0intense tropical fruit flavors balanced with vibrant acidity complimented all of the dishes quite well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5423\" alt=\"jpg97\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/jpg97.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/jpg97.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/jpg97-300x246.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lounge serves great Happy Hour drinks and menu daily from 3:00pm &#8211; 7:00pm with a different theme everyda; Monday Night Football, Taco Tuesdays, Rockefeller Wednesdays, etc.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Collages183.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I absolutely adore how beautiful and elegant the main dining room is with the crystal chandeliers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5439\" alt=\"Baleen-24\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Baleen-24.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Baleen-24.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Baleen-24-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once all the guests were seated, we were presented with Charcuterie. \u00a0It was the perfect starter to share. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/jpg98.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>Followed by a basket of breads, Lobster Sliders (\u00a0spicy sriracha chile aioli, fried jalapeno) and Lobster Mac &amp; Cheese. I loved the Lobster Sliders. \u00a0The toasted brioche was light and did not over power the lobster. The Lobster Mac &amp; Cheese was comfort food at its best.
