I am not sure why, but department store restaurants just never enticed me.\u00a0 Allen and I were meeting a friend at Cerritos and needed to find a place to grab a bite.\u00a0 Not wanting asian food, I was a little lost where and what to eat.\u00a0 When I found Nordstrom Bistro with all the glorious reviews on Yelp<\/a>, I thought I would take a chance.\u00a0 It turned out to be a pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n

I hadn’t been to Cerritos Mall in years.\u00a0 When I approached South Street exist on 605 freeway, I saw a Halloween banner hanging on the building where Nordstrom once stood.\u00a0 OMG, did it close?\u00a0 With the way economy is going and so many stores closing, I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.\u00a0 I decided to drive around the mall anyway.\u00a0 Luckily, it had just relocated to the other end where Robinson used to be.\u00a0 Whew!<\/p>\n

The Bistro is located on the second floor. The interior is modern and open where you can see the kitchen.\u00a0 On a Thursday night, it was pretty empty.\u00a0 I asked to be seated but was told we had to order at the cashier first and the server would bring the food to the table.\u00a0 Alright.\u00a0 I grabbed a menu and looked it over with Allen.\u00a0 The menu was not very big, but had enough selections and varieties for everyone.\u00a0 Once we ordered and paid, we headed to a booth.<\/p>\n

Our waiter was a handsome young man with a very cute accent.\u00a0 He was friendly and attentive through out dinner.\u00a0 Although I thought he should have just brought out the bread without asking if we wanted some.\u00a0 C’mon, who would turn down free bread, right?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\"\"My entree selection was NI\u00c7OISE SALAD WITH SALMON made with\u00a0 organic baby greens, romaine lettuce, herb and dijon roasted salmon, french green beans, kalamata olives, petite tomatoes, red onion, potatoes, egg, capers and dijon balsamic vinaigrette. \u00a0 I loved it!\u00a0 The salmon was tender and flavorful.\u00a0 The\u00a0 potatoes were perfectly roasted and the dijon balsamic vinaigrette was light and refreshing.<\/p>\n

\"\"Our friend ordered the STEAK & ARUGULA SALAD with organic baby arugula, thinly sliced flat iron steak, roasted zucchini, jumbo white beans, oven-roasted tomatoes, parmesan cheese and garlic croutons with dijon balsamic vinaigrette.\u00a0 She also enjoyed it very much.\u00a0 I took a piece of the steak and it very tender for flat iron steak.<\/p>\n

\"\"Allen had BRAISED SHORT RIB SANDWICH made with dark cherry braised short ribs, sharp white cheddar cheese, organic baby arugula, pickled onions and jalape\u00f1o a\u00efoli on toasted baguette.\u00a0 He said it was just OK.\u00a0 The flavor was lackluster and the cheese tasted more American than ‘Sharp White Cheddar’.<\/p>\n

\"\"Even though we were stuffed, we decided to try some desserts.\u00a0 The Strawberry Short Cake was very pretty.\u00a0 The ‘Short Cake’ actually tasted more like biscuit but we didn’t mind.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Chocolate cake with caramel sauce was sooooo good!\u00a0 OMG, if you ever go and you like chocolate cake, you must try this.
