Media Tasting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Updated January 24, 2014 &#8211; I just learned that his restaurant is no longer in business. \u00a0Nevertheless, please enjoy the food images!<\/p>\n<p>Brea Downtown is near and dear to my heart.\u00a0 When I met my husband, Allen, 15 years ago he was living in Brea.\u00a0 The first 2 1\/2 years of our courtship, we spent almost every weekend catching a movie and dinning afterward here.\u00a0 The very first restaurant located at 240 South Brea Boulevard we went to was Pane E Vino in 2008.\u00a0 Through the years, it has changed hands a few times.\u00a0 Two40 South opened Fall of 2011; it, too, has gone through change of owners, managements and chefs.\u00a0 But I am happy to share that it was for the better!\u00a0 The Barrel Room at Two40 South is not only looking better than ever but tasting even more amazing.\u00a0 It was nominated for Best Californian Cuisine by Golden Foodie Awards 2013. \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Barrel-1.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" \/>Parking can be a little challenging, but thankfully there is valet parking.\u00a0 Or you can choose to park at the free parking structure by the theater and take a short walk just across the street.\u00a0 This, my friend, is what I call the Path to\u00a0 Happy Eating.\u00a0 The Barrel room has 2 patio seating areas that are great for a more casual dining.\u00a0 It feels like sitting at your own backyard with friends and family.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t you just love the fireplace?<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/jpg7.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>The first thing you notice was you walk through the double entry door is the bar.\u00a0 You can see the barrels behind the glass window.\u00a0 This is the only restaurant I know that actually serves wine out of the barrel!\u00a0 Who needs to go to a winery?\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages32.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>I love the richness of the main dining room!\u00a0 The elegant chandelier, the dark wood furnishing, and leather seating.\u00a0 The brick ceiling adds an interesting touch to the space as if you were in an underground vintage cellar. \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages34.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>I love an open kitchen.\u00a0 They even having bar seating where you can watch all the actions.\u00a0 One of the most unique features I find with The Barrel Room is the wine dispensing system that allows you to buy the wine by the glass, 1\/2 glass, or even mini glass.\u00a0 For someone like me who is a light drinker, this is perfect.\u00a0 Even more perfect is you can choose to pair your meal with different wines.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4767\" alt=\"Collages48\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages48.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages48.jpg 665w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages48-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Barrel Room offers Seasonal Menu as well as regular menu.\u00a0 They are also extremely accommodating to anyone with special dietary needs.\u00a0 Just ask the server and they will make every effort possible to create a dish just for you.<\/p>\n<p>Our tasting featured dishes from both.\u00a0 We started with Ahi Tartare (Avocado, Preserved Meyer Lemons, Garlic Parsley Croutons, Saba).\u00a0 I loved the creaminess of the avocado.\u00a0 The tuna simply melted in your mouth.\u00a0 And the Garlic Parsley Croutons were addicting!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages36.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>Salt &amp; Pepper Calamari (Flash Fried, Sweet Thai Chili Pepper Sauce).\u00a0 These were plump tender strips of calamari.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t get any better than this.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t worry about the sauce being too spicy, it was quite mild. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages38.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had to order the Prosciutto Pizza (Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Sunny Side Egg).\u00a0 Egg makes everything tastes better.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages37.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>The Arugula Salad (Prosciutto-Wrapped Peach, Granny Smith Apple Chips, Walnut Crusted Goat Cheese Puck, Apricot Vinaigrette) is one of my favorites and it didn&#8217;t disappoint!\u00a0 This was my must-order dish every time.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages39.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>The Angus Ribeye Cap (Fingerling Potato Hash, Glazed Cipollini Onions, Creamy Brandy Peppercorn Sauce) was simply amazing!\u00a0 It was simple but flavorful, each bite so tender.\u00a0 If you love meat, you won&#8217;t want to miss this!\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages40.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>The Summer Citrus Salmon (Lime Coconut Rice, Sauteed Asparagus, Broccoli, Baby Bok Choy with Red Curry Sauce) was an Asian Fusion dish.\u00a0 If you like Thai Curry, you will enjoy this dish.\u00a0\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4805\" alt=\"Collages41\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages411.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages411.jpg 665w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages411-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All the desserts are made in house.\u00a0 The Creme Brulee was rich but light.\u00a0 I thought it was lovely that it was served with Madeleine cookies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages43.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>Our server, Andy, highly recommended the Cheese Cake.\u00a0 And it&#8217;d be my turn to recommend you, too.\u00a0 Unlike others, this was light and wouldn&#8217;t leave you feeling heavy.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages44.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/>The Barrel Room has an impressive wine vault.\u00a0 If you are lucky, you might get a chance to tour it.\u00a0 I was told it could house 12,000 bottles of wines.\u00a0 But I wasn&#8217;t going to count them.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude1b\u00a0 If you are one of the lucky VIP wine club members, you can rent one of the wine lockers for a fee.\u00a0 And you will also get discounts on may of the the wines and events the restaurant hosts.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages45.jpg\" width=\"665\" height=\"850\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"pp-insert-all size-full aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Collages47.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"699\" \/>The restaurant offers a Happy Hour Bar Menu daily from 3:00pm &#8211; 7:00pm with many menu items and selective wines at 50% off.\u00a0 Lunch is also served 7 days a week from 11:30am &#8211; 3:00pm with Brunch on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Once a month, there is a special Wine Pairing Dinner hosted in the private dining room.\u00a0 Allen and I were fortunate to have attended.\u00a0 The menu was exquisite!\u00a0 Take a look at the slide video below.\u00a0 But keep a napkin handy because you might be drooling.\u00a0 LOL!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st Course &#8211; 2009 Dijon Clone Chardonnay, Carneros, Napa Valley<\/li>\n<li>3rd Course &#8211; Pheasant (Caramel Pumpkin Puree, Blueberry Demi-Glaze) &#8211; 2010 Crimson Creek Merlot, Napa Valley<\/li>\n<li>4th Course &#8211; Beef Wellington (Sauteed Spinach &amp; Lobster Hollandaise) &#8211; 2009 &amp; 2010 Cabernet, &#8220;Stags Leap district&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>5th Course &#8211; Chocolate and Cherry Savarin (Vanilla Cake, Chocolate Bavarian Cream, Cherry Sabayon) &#8211;
