Oktoberfest Media Tasting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If the restaurant sounds familiar to you, that&#8217;s because I was just there about a months ago for their delicious Summer Prix Fixe menu tasting (read my previous blog <a href=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/?p=2097\">here<\/a>).\u00a0 Allen and I were so incredibly honored to be invited back to try their Oktoberfest menu last weekend.\u00a0 This tasting had to be one of the most &#8216;wunderbar&#8217; and memorable dining experiences among the many I&#8217;ve had in the last few years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(Special thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/allentaylorphotography.com\/\">Allen Taylor Photography<\/a> for providing the following beautiful images!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2227\" title=\"bayside-259\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/bayside-259.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/bayside-259.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/bayside-259-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our reservation was for 5:30pm and I requested to be seated at the outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful marina.\u00a0 Mr. Giovanni Marino, our Maitre D&#8217; and the hostess greeted us right away and led us to our table.\u00a0 As soon as we sat down, our friendly server, Craig, introduced some wine from the wine list and special drinks from the house.\u00a0 Allen and my other guest ordered the Austrian White Wine (Sorry, I couldn&#8217;t begin to remember the name as I don&#8217;t drink and am unfamiliar with all the fancy names!)\u00a0 My son and I ordered\u00a0 Ginger Peach and Pomegranate Green Tea Ice Tea.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2228\" title=\"Collages18\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Collages18.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Collages18.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Collages18-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Soon after, Chef Paul Gstrein personally came over and gave us a very warm welcome.\u00a0 I was completed overwhelmed and so humbled that I got to speak to him this time around at our private table!!\u00a0 Chef Paul recommended that we try the 6-course tasting meal he had prepared for us and we happily obliged!\u00a0 Chef Paul and his staff personally served each dish and explained in detail how they were prepared.\u00a0 To say that I felt like royalty was an understatement!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2231\" title=\"oktoberfest-12\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-12.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-12.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-12-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Course #1 &#8211; SPECK PROSCIUTTO (Grilled Sourdough \/ Sweet Butter \/ Thyme \/ Arugula).\u00a0 I was impressed with how delicate the prosciutto was.\u00a0 Unlike others that were way too salty (to my taste), these were light and went perfectly with the sweet butter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2230\" title=\"oktoberfest-5\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-5.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-5.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-5-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Course # 2 &#8211; RAUCHERFORELLEN TURMCHEN (Smoked Trout \/ Horseradish \/ Granny Smith Apple \/ Celery \/Dill \/ Pumpernickel).\u00a0 Wow, this was very, very complex.\u00a0 It was creamy, a little crunchy, a tad bit bitter, then balanced out by the sweet tartness of the Granny Smith Apple.\u00a0 It was really nice!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2232\" title=\"oktoberfest-13\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-13.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-13.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-13-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/>Course #3 &#8211; KASEKRAINER BRATWURST (Emmenthal Cheese Infused Pork Sausage \/ Sauerkraut \/ Pretzel \/ Sweet Spicy Mustard).\u00a0 Man oh man, this was out of this world!\u00a0 I was really worried about fatty sausage and was never a fan of sauerkraut (now I know it was because I&#8217;ve never had Chef Paul&#8217;s) but I LOVED this dish!\u00a0 Unlike other sausage made with 80\/20 ratio (80% lean meat, 20% fat), this was locally made with 100% lean meat and Emmenthal Cheese.\u00a0 With every bite, instead of the fat, it was the cheese oozing out.\u00a0 And the sauerkraut was unbelievably delicious.\u00a0 This dish is also Chef Paul&#8217;s favorite.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve got to order this when you come!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2233\" title=\"oktoberfest-25\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-25.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-25.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-25-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Course #4 &#8211; SCHWEINERUCKEN SCHNITZEL (Lightly Breaded Pork Loin Medallion \/ Appenzeller Cheese \/ Black Forest Ham \/ Cucumber).\u00a0 This was much like a Chicken Cordon Bleu.\u00a0 To tell you the truth, by now I was stuffed.\u00a0 I managed to eat 2 bites.\u00a0 I liked it, but I couldn&#8217;t say I loved it as much as the bratwurst.\u00a0 I also enjoyed the cucumber salad with vinaigrette dressing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2234\" title=\"oktoberfest-39\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-39.jpg\" width=\"553\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-39.jpg 553w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-39-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Course #5 &#8211; WIENER SAFTGULASCH (Beef Short-rib \/ Caraway \/ Marjoram \/ Sweet Paprika \/ Yukon Potato \/ Roasted Pepper \/ Melted Leek \/ Charred Brussels).\u00a0 OK, I was beyond &#8216;stuffed&#8217; now!\u00a0 But I couldn&#8217;t resist the beautifully slow-cooked (for 9 hours) short-rib.\u00a0 It was so tender it practically melted in the mouth!\u00a0 Had I not been so STUFFED, I would have eaten the whole plate!\u00a0 This is another must-try dish.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2235\" title=\"oktoberfest-47\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-47.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-47.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-47-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, since it&#8217;s Oktoberfest, you&#8217;ve got to have something made with chocolate, right?\u00a0 I loved, loved this MOHR IM HEMD (Chocolate Bread Pudding \/ Macerated Cherries \/ Vanilla Ice Cream).\u00a0 It had the consistency of bread and cake so it was lighter than a regular &#8216;bread&#8217; pudding.\u00a0 Chef Paul is also excellent in making dessert.\u00a0 All the desserts are made in house!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2236\" title=\"oktoberfest-67\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-67.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-67.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-67-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were so lucky that we also got to try the Tiramisu (left), Creme Brulee (upper right), and Sorbet Trio (lower right).\u00a0 Everyone was holding their stomach, but we couldn&#8217;t stop eating.\u00a0 OMG!\u00a0 Dessert heaven!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2229\" title=\"Oktoberfest\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Oktoberfest.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Oktoberfest.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Oktoberfest-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As the sun set, we marveled at the beautiful view and savored all the fabulous food we had just devoured.\u00a0 What an absolutely amazing tasting meal crafted by the talented culinary master artist, Chef Paul!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2237\" title=\"oktoberfest-72\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-72.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-72.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/oktoberfest-72-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much to Chef Paul, Bayside Restaurant and staff, and Groff-Hinman, Inc.
