Event @ Bayside Restaurant, Newport Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nowadays, with my busy schedule, I am quite selective in which media events to attend.\u00a0 But one look at Bayside Restaurant&#8217;s website, I was intrigued about the New American cuisine the restaurant has to offer.\u00a0 The beautifully designed restaurant overlooks the Newport Harbor.\u00a0 Even on a very hot sunny day, the outdoor patio, where the media event took place, got a nice cool breeze.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(Special thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/allentaylorphotography.com\">Allen (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Upon entry, there is a huge wine tower and a fabric-draped bar dividing the spacious dining room into 2 wings.\u00a0 The walls are home to rotating art exhibits from carefully select modern art paintings.\u00a0 Patrons are entertained nightly with soulful jazz music.\u00a0 You&#8217;d be happy to know that the Happy Hours (at the bar and lounge) are from 5:00pm until closing daily.\u00a0 Yes, you heard it right!\u00a0 And the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baysiderestaurant.com\/documents\/small_plates.pdf\">menu<\/a> is quite extensive, so check it soup or salad and an entree.\u00a0 I chose the Summer Salad (Arugula with Nectarine, Grapes, Blue Cheese, Onion, Pistachios in Balsamic Vinaigrette.\u00a0 This was light and refreshing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2100\" title=\"bayside-214\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-214.jpg\" alt=\"\" https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-214-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another guest had this Puree of Green Pea with Mint soup.\u00a0 He thought it was one of the best green pea soup he&#8217;s had.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2098\" title=\"Bayside-16\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Bayside-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"850\" (max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Allen usually gets something different from mine just so we could both try the food.\u00a0 His starter was the Romaine Salad with Parmesan Dressing and Croutons.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2101\" title=\"bayside-215\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-215.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-215.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-215-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My entree of Petit Filet Mignon (Pepper Sauce, Season Vegetables, Potato Trio) was cooked to perfection.\u00a0 It was tender and flavorful in every bite.\u00a0 Everyone also marveled at the beautiful presentation!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2116\" title=\"bayside-219\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-219.jpg 553w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-219-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allen&#8217;s House Made Potato Gnocchi (Italian Sausage, Peppers, Parmesan, Parsley) was a star of its own.\u00a0 The sausage was spicy but not over powering.\u00a0 The gnocchi had great texture and chewiness.\u00a0 I thought I just wanted to try a bite but I could not stop eating.\u00a0 It was so good!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2103\" title=\"bayside-220\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-220.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-220.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-220-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had a chance to try a piece of Sauteed Tiger Prawns (Famous &#8216;Green&#8217; Risotto, Sugar Snap Peas).\u00a0 These were huge tiger prawns that were light and snappy.\u00a0 Guests who ordered this entree cleaned up their plates so I think it must have been good.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2099\" title=\"Bayside-17\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Bayside-17.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Bayside-17.jpg 551w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Bayside-17-194x300.jpg 194w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another entree available was Grilled Swordfish (Lemon Risotto, Heirloom Tomato, Petit Green Bean Salad).\u00a0 Although I didn&#8217;t get a chance to try it, I thought it was also beautifully presented.\u00a0 To me, a dish has to please the eyes as well as the palate.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2102\" title=\"bayside-216\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-216.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-216-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now a meal is not complete without desserts.\u00a0 The Sorbet Trio was made in-house.\u00a0 Unlike other sorbet which tends to be a little on the tart side, these were well balanced in sweetness and tartness.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2107\" title=\"bayside-247\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-247.jpg 553w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-247-195x300.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Banana Bread Pudding was simply amazing!\u00a0 I am not a big fan of bread pudding but I loved this!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2105\" title=\"bayside-240\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-240.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-240-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/>The Chocolate Souffle with Hazelnut Ice Cream fell a little short for me.\u00a0 I\u00a0 thought it was a little on the doughy side but I enjoyed the ice cream.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2108\" title=\"bayside-248\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-248.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-248.jpg 850w, https:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-248-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Tiramisu was different and tasted like it was mostly creamy custard and not much cake.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2104\" title=\"bayside-237\" src=\"http:\/\/wendyfulworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bayside-237.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"850\" (max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t try the Creme Brulee but it sure looked pretty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the things I really enjoyed was meeting amazing people in these media events.\u00a0 On this particular occasion, I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing\u00a0 Mrs. Fifi Chao (far right) who is a chef, lecturer, author, educator, radio personality and publisher of Chao&#8217;s Dinesty, a private subscription restaurant, wine and travel newsletter.\u00a0 Also in presence was Ms. Teri Williams (second from left), Publisher and Editor in Chief of Great Taste Magazine.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t have picked a better table to share the amazing food with these amazing new friends!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2109\" title=\"bayside-252\"
