Kaju Tofu

I can’t remember who introduced me to Soon-Du-Bu (aka Soft Tofu), but it was love at first spoon!  I also happen to love Korean BBQ of all kinds.  At Kaju, you get the best of both world!

The restaurant is located on the corner of Magnolia and Garden Grove Blvd. in the city of Garden Grove.  Parking is pretty easy since it’s next to H-Mart.  I’m not sure if this is a chain restaurant but I’ve known Kaju Tofu in other cities and the decors are all very similar – with Chinese character wall paper and Korean nick-nacks.

Kaju has some of the best Banchan’s I’ve ever had.  My all time favorite is the Spicy Cucumber.  It’s a little sweet and sour with the right amount of spiciness.  I can pretty much eat a meal with just this.

In addition to all different types of Tofu Soup, the menu also offers Korean BBO (Beef, Short Ribs, Chicken, and Spicy Pork), and Bibimbap (Hot Stone Rice Bowls).  I always go for a Combo with a bubbling hot Tofu Soup (in medium spicy) and a sizzling plate of BBQ Short Ribs.  The tofu soup is flavorful but not too salty and the short ribs very tender and never overly sweet or too fatty.

Allen likes to get the Bulgolgi (Thin Sliced Marinated Beef).  Again, they don’t make them too sweet and the beef is always lean and not fatty.

They are open everyday from 10:00am until midnight.  However, come at 10:00pm, you can expect a late crowd and will most likely have to wait awhile since the restaurant is not very big.  One thing is for sure, the food is good enough to be worthy of the wait.
